You're experienced in agile techniques. You have the soft skills. The Executive Committee of Voture Solutions, Incorporated has tapped you lead one of its Special Projects teams pursuing the most sensitive and cutting-edge initiatives. While you're not part of the core business, each of these projects will be personally overseen by the Executive Committee and so you can expect significant career opportunities.
Charybdis Technical (working title) is a narrative management sim that focuses on Agile Development. As the SCRUM manual indicates "complex problems are those with many unknown unknowns"¹, which if we're being honest, applies to the occult as easily as it does a software solution for improving your company's internal process.
I don't know if these are ACTUALLY frequently asked, since I posted this BEFORE I made the demo public, but I've written some answers to some anticipated questions beforehand just because it probably is a good idea to be prepared. Are some of these presumptive? Sure, but I am making some guesses. If past Luci is being too full of herself, well... To bad.
This isn't a question, but sure. Yeah. This is in part a personal project to learn some stuff and while I think the game design and coding bones are alright, I anticipate at this stage it not to look good or be 100% polished. I am in the process of fixing both of those things.
I put in tutorial messages which I thought were clear, but it's possible they're not. The game progresses by you assigning developers to active tasks and then using th e "Advance" button to move through the days of the sprint. There are some additional complications, of course, but that's the gist of it. If you're curious about a particular mechanic, I'm keeping an eye on the itch.io comments and will try to answer as best as I can.
Yes. The game has a narrative focus, so whether or not you complete the assigned tasks isn't really considered a "loss" per se, BUT completing the objectives does yield a different result in the wrap up.
Cool! Thanks! Leave a comment on the game's page, since I can't catch everything it would be appreciated. Let me know as much as you can about how you found it.
Version 0.5? What does that mean?
You didn't ask this question, really but I am going to explain it anyway. What I'll say is the following:
1.0 likely coincides with the completion of the first leg of the full game, since the game will be close to feature complete on that version (there are, at time of writing a few unimplemented mechanics)
Version 0.XX or 1.XX, etc relate to engine and code changes. Version 0.Xa are content-only patches.
Maybe? The demo serves as kind of a tutorial so it's missing a bunch of mechanics that I've planned for the game proper. Of course, I'm interested in hearing what you have to say so, leave comments, but if I'm like "oh, that's interesting" it's because I am incorporating feedback as part of my development cycle.
Very nice of you to ask. No. Not yet. Gonna try it myself first. See "This Game is Scuffed as Hell"
You know you could go fuck yourself.
See "Scuffed as Hell" Working on music, but wanted something playable first. Keep your ears peeled.
At the moment, this isn't something I think I'd want anyone giving me money for. ALSO, I have a reasonable war chest for this development, so I'd feel bad taking your money. Give something to a mutual aid you skipped or a local foodbank. If this changes, you'll notice.
If this eventually becomes a full game, I will probably charge for that, but like one thing at a time.
