At Talkington School for Young Women Leaders, we believe that leadership means serving others. Giving back to our community is more than simply completing a graduation requirement—it is an important part of who we are and what it means to be a Talkington student.
Community service has been a part of the Talkington graduation requirements since 2008. For nearly two decades, our students have been encouraged to look beyond themselves, recognize needs in their community, and use their time and talents to make a difference.
Through community service, students have the opportunity to discover that even small acts of service can have a lasting impact. Whether they are volunteering with a local nonprofit, helping children, supporting a community event, caring for animals, serving those in need, or simply giving their time to make someone else's day better, our students learn the value of compassion, responsibility, and leadership.
We serve because our community needs us—and because serving others helps us grow. Community service gives our students opportunities to develop leadership skills, build relationships, explore their interests, and see firsthand the difference they can make.
At Talkington, we don't want our students to simply complete their service hours. We want them to find purpose in serving and carry that spirit of service with them long after they graduate.
We Serve. We Lead. We Make a Difference.
