The Theatre program at Monterey High School offers you opportunities to learn all aspects of Theatre. Working backstage or onstage, students taking theatre at MHS will gain valuable learning experiences through their projects in the coursework and by mounting full-scale productions.

In coursework, students explore acting, stagecraft, makeup, costuming, lighting, sound, voice and Theatre history. MHS Theatre students gain practical experience in a variety of productions.

The MHS Theatre Department mounts two mainstage productions per semester and various other performances.  The program also participates in UIL One Act Play competitions in the spring.

Productions are mounted in the MHS Fine Arts Theater.  The facility recently underwent renovations and upgrades that includes more comfortable seating, new carpet, a state-of-the-art computerized lighting system, and new curtains. The upgrades and renovations give the students a more conducive space to work on theatre productions and projects.
