JV/Varsity meets 5th period, Freshman meet 8th period during the fall and spring.  In season, Freshman practice begins around 3:10 p.m., JV/Varsity practice after school until 6:00-6:30 p.m. Games are Tuesday and Friday/Saturdays with some weekend tournaments and/or practices. 

Tryouts are mandatory and start the first week in August, BEFORE school begins. Season starts JULY 31.

This year, Volleyball Camp for future/incoming athletes will be in JULY (July 24-26 TENTATIVELY) and although it is NOT mandatory, it is beneficial to those who are trying out for volleyball. It is IMPERATIVE that athletes receive information from Coach Leesman before August tryouts. Volleyball Players' Clinic is usually also during July (2-4 days) and is reserved for returning players or entering upperclassmen.

Information for all players interested in trying out for the Westerner VB program will be discussed at the parent meetings scheduled for your feeder school in May.

Volleyball summer information will be delivered to feeder schools in MAY so all interested 9th grade girls know important dates for camps and have all paperwork necessary for August tryouts. A physical MUST be on file before working out (please see the link below for instructions and online participation forms). Conditioning and weightlifting occur year round with offseason adding running, footwork and skill training. 

Athletes wanting to tryout need to understand that the Lubbock High Volleyball Program places very high demands on student/athletes. We pride ourselves on our work ethic and hold ourselves to a high standard on the court and in the classroom. Many athletes play club volleyball and although it is very beneficial, it is not mandatory. Please keep in mind, all athletes will be evaluated together and measured on athleticism, skill, and knowledge of the game.
