Service Hours Explained

As part of the ever expansion of the PAL program in the LTISD community, PALs will contribute both voluntary (you pick) and mandatory (I assign) service hours within the District.

All volunteer service hours are capped at 5 hours per Volunteer Program. This is not to keep you from working at your favorite organization or at your church but for you to expand your horizons and take you outside of your comfort level.

Voluntary Service Hours- 

Volunteer Form

These are hours that the PAL students must complete by their choice. Service CANNOT be paid or for a grade for another class or organization. Service must be within the Lake Travis ISD community.

Examples

• Mobile Loaves & Fishes

• Community Libraries

• Assisting teachers, staff, or admin at one of the district offices or campuses.

• Assisted living or retirement communities (Grace House, Silverado, Summit, Brookdale)

• Local Churches

• LTISD Summer Camps

• Church or Camp Leadership

• etc

Or within the Austin Area (prior approval from sponsor).

• Dell's Children Shelter

• Austin Pets Alive

• Lady Bird Lake Clean-up

• Susan G. Komen walk for the cure

• etc

As always, exceptions can be made if you are out of town or at camp. Just communicate with me rendont@ltisdschools.org or through the remind101 app. 

Mandatory Service Hours- 

these are hours delegated by the PAL sponsor to give the organization more presence on the LTHS campus and within the community. These events include but are not limited to

• End of the year teacher work week (May-Jun).

• Back to School Set-up (Aug) If you are still on vacation or unavailable you have to make up these hours. 

• Roundup- (Aug)

• Meet the Parents Night (Aug) Everyone is working this night make arrangements with work now.

• LT SHOWCASE (FEB)

• PAL Middle School Conference (NOV) Tentative

• PAL Leadership Conference (Apr-May)

• Night to Shine (spring)

• Teacher Appreciation Events (Fall, Spring) PAL-O-WEEN, Ice Cream Social

• PALs night @ We will represent PALs as a group to events PALs are in....Theater, Football, Debate, Band, Etc... 

• New Student/parent tours

Other opportunities may arise throughout the school year.

WHAT'S UP ROUND UP?

Every year LTHS has round up for new & returning students based on grade level.

This year round up is being organized and carried out by Mr. Horton. Although Mr. Horton is more than capable of handling Round Up it is always helpful to have some trustworthy and competent students to help with:

-Checking out books

-Answering general questions of new students & parents

-Showing those overwhelmed freshman students & parents around their school.
