Board Position Descriptions
All PTA Board members agree to attend monthly board-only meetings. These meetings are scheduled at the convience of the board to allow for the greatest participation possible. While there are a number of important positions below, the goal of the Board is to create a team that is capable of bringing value to our students. We work together so that no one person should feel alone in their role.
President: Chair all Board and Association meetings; ensure the PTA adheres to all local, state and national requirements to keep the association in good standing.
Secretary: Take notes at all Board and Association meetings. Meeting notes have a template and are primarily based on agenda items.
Treasurer: Maintain the books for the PTA; be a signatory on all checks and the primary contact for financial transactions of the PTA. Taxes and audits are not part of this position.
VP Communications: Send out all PTA email and text communications; manage the Instagram and Facebook accounts. Accounts, templates and technical assistance are all available.
VP Fundraising: Leading fundraising for the annual school banner; identifying and leading other fundraising opportunities including restaurant nights. Templates exist for communications and banners.
VP Events: Partner with coordinators, committees and volunteers to lead events. Most events have plans and documents to help organize and plan.
VP Membership: Lead outreach to the school community to build our Association membership; be a presence at school events and help people learn how to join our PTA.
Parliamentarian: Be a resource for the rules and process required of a good standing PTA. (Don't worry, there aren't a lot of rules)
Teacher Liaison: Our connection to the teacher community at school; be a voice for what support the teachers need.
Yearbook Coordinator: Lead the effort to create next year's yearbook. Templates and assistance available.
Photographer: New this year, we are splitting this position out of the Yearbook Coordinator's responsibilities. This person would potentially take pictures, but also coordinate with teachers, staff and families to collect more pictures.
Volunteer Coordinator: Help find and organize volunteers from our school community to help at PTA events.
Read-a-thon Coordinator: Organize and lead this annual event held each spring. Templates and plans are available from past years.
Walk-a-thon Coordinator: Organize and lead this annual event held each fall. Templates and plans are available from past years.
Principal: Brings insight into what is happening at the administration level. Not an elected position (thankfully).
