Ms. Young works in Grand Rapids as the 6-8 grade choir teacher at Robert J Ellington Middle School. In her free time, she likes to be outside with her dog, Finley. Music is one of her passions because it allows people to connect in a way we don't normally get to. Ms. Young's favorite artist is most definitely Taylor Swift. She is excited to return as the Cantemus director this year and can't wait for the season!

Ms. Downing works in Two Harbors, teaching K-5th grade elementary music at Minnehaha Elementary. She loves getting lost in a piece of music that she is playing or listening to, and the way singing and playing with others can build a community. Outside of music making, Ms. Downing loves reading, running and hiking, playing golf and volleyball, and crafting (she is a crochet baby blanket expert). A few of her favorite artists right now are Taylor Swift, Olivia Dean, Kacey Musgraves, and Gracie Abrams. She can't wait to continue her role as Cantemus accompanist this year, and is looking forward to a fantastic season!

Ms. Melander is a K-12 Vocal Music Education major at the College of Saint Scholastica. Since 4th grade (when she joined LSYC!) she has been a part of a music ensemble, and she values the deep and unique sense of community they can provide. Outside of music, she loves to spend time outside, get coffee, and do any crafts! Ms. Melander is looking forward to an awesome season getting to know, work with and learn from Cantemus!
