Attitude
All student-athletes are expected to promote encouragement, good sportsmanship, and general positivity, including maintaining positivity during all competitions, games, and practices.
Attire
Student-athletes are expected to wear cheer shoes at every practice, game, and competition. Student-athletes should have short nails during the entirety of the cheer season. Nail polish is not allowed during competition.
At practice, student-athletes should wear that day's assigned practice wear. All jewelry and piercings must be completely removed.
At games and competitions, student-athletes must wear full uniform, including: shoes, socks, spankies, top and bottom of uniform, and bow (if applicable). Hair and makeup will be discussed, but should be stage-ready for competitions, and game-ready for football games.
Health and Wellness
Student-athletes should bring a reusable water bottle to each practice, game, competition, etc. Student-athletes are expected to eat full, nutritious meals multiple times a day in order to maintain overall health. Chewing gum is not allowed.
Use of tobacco products, drinking, and/or doing drugs while in or out of uniform, on or off school property, during the entire school year (not just the fall season) is prohibited.
Coach should be notified of all sustained and new pains/injuries. If injured, a trainer or physician’s clearance is required before returning to practice. If injured and unable to participate, attendance at practice is required.
Leadership
Appropriate conduct is expected at all times. Social media accounts should be personally monitored and edited to remove any unbecoming or inappropriate language, photos, videos, or references in posts, or those connected to the social media account.
Using inappropriate language, bullying, or making fun of others will not be tolerated. These expectations apply while in and out of uniform.
Attendance
Any tardy or absence should be communicated from the athlete to Coach via EMAIL ONLY ASAP. Word of mouth is NOT accepted.
Attendance at all practices, games, and competitions is required.
Cheerleading is a team sport and heavily dependent on working together. Absence from a practice- excused or not- may result in removal from a stunt, routine, etc.
Safety
No new skills will be attempted without the approval and supervision of a coach.
Academics
Participants are expected to be a student first and an athlete second. Commitment to the team involves strong dedication to my academics. Participants should seek teacher extra-help, peer tutoring, and other academic supports available to me during non-practice times.
Practice and Game Day Policies
Participants should be at least 5 minutes early to practice. All athletes must participate in mats, before and after practice. Tardiness is not accepted.
Meet times for games and competitions are designated by Coach and are non-negotiable. Tardiness is not accepted.
All cell phones are to be turned off during practice and games, and may not be checked during water breaks.
Cheerleaders are not to socialize with players or crowd members during games.
Athletes will follow the lead of captains during a game, and will not ask them for requests of certain cheers, partner stunts, pyramids, etc.
Athletes will only perform cheers, dances, routines, stunts, pyramids, tumbling, jumps, and other skills that have been approved by Coach.
