Language Arts 8 is a comprehensive communication arts class designed to develop and challenge students in the areas of all types of literacy: informational, digital and good old fiction. We will be growing our brains using thinking strategies via writing, reading, speaking & listening each day. Not a lot of worksheets or memorization occurs. My methods may seem a little strange at first, but you will learn and grow a lot, I promise!

The ELA LSR-7 District Essential Standards are for grades 7-12. The essential standards are the basis for our class learning targets, organized into units of study, and consist of the following:

#2: Literary Texts: Students will read, comprehend, analyze, and evaluate grade-level literary texts independently and proficiently.

#3: Informational Texts: Students will read, comprehend, analyze, and evaluate grade-level informational texts independently and proficiently.

#4: Writing: Students will produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.

#5: Information Literacy: Students will gather relevant information from multiple print and digital sources, assess the credibility and accuracy of each source, and integrate the information while avoiding plagiarism.
