BCMS Counselors visit elementary schools to share information on the transition to middle school
Students receive an overview of courses available to 6th graders.
Each student will receive an individualized enrollment form including courses, specific recommendations, and due date.
Elementary classroom teachers collect completed enrollment sheets to send to BCMS by due date.
6th Grade Parent Orientation Night provides an overview of middle school and an opportunity for questions from new families.
BCMS Counselors provide a classroom lesson to 6th grade students to:
Share course choices and opportunities available to students in 7th grade
Show students how to view their teacher recommendations for the following year
Provide instruction on completion of enrollment form
Teach and practice HOW to enroll in PowerSchool
Provide support in course selection and enrollment questions
Students receive:
Enrollment form to be completed and signed by parents and returned to school
Information regarding waivers
Due date for return of paper enrollment to school as well as completion of enrollment in PowerSchool
