LSI takes it's responsibilities to younger students very seriously and below you can find the information we give to students as well as our full safeguarding policy. Please read through the policy carefully if you host, or are planning to host under 18s.
We strongly recommend all our hosts to take free basic safeguarding training which is available at the following link: https://accreditation-uk.english.britishcouncil.org
Key Information and Advice
Curfews
If students under 18 are not on an activity supervised by LSI staff then the following curfews apply:
Students aged 16 and 17 should be at home with their host family by 22.30 every night.
Students aged 15 and under should be at home by 21.00 every night.
Some groups of students, particularly those with students which mix under and over 16, may have a different curfew. This will either be on the copy of their programme, or we will inform you by text message.
Please inform the school if students break their curfew or tell you their curfew has been changed or lifted.
These curfews are based on two practicalities: the availability of public transport and when it gets dark.
Attendance
Under 18s need to be accounted for by the school at all times. If your student is sick and unable to attend school, please notify the school before 9am or as soon as possible. We do ask students to let us know themselves, but this does not always happen.
Leaving students overnight
Students under 18 must never be left alone over night. If an unexpected situation arises and you have to leave the students the school must be notified and an adult known to the school with a valid DBS check carried out by the school must be present in the house over night.
Hosting rules for under 18s
Students under 16 years of age can not be accommodated with students over 18. Students under 18 must also not share host family accommodation with students of the opposite sex (for example, you can not host a 16 year old student girl with a 15 year old student boy). Your own children do not count in this. Please pay particularly close attention to this if you have more than one room available and host for more than one school. Please notify LSI if you accept any bookings from any other school whilst you have under 18s booked from LSI.

Please contact the school if you have any concerns about your students mental or physical well-being.
