A Look to the Future

• In February, the Sedalia Circuit launched a Genesis Project study on the feasibility of starting a Lutheran High School.

• We have received a 38-page report from Genesis consultant, Chris Steinmann, who is the CEO of Cleveland, Ohio Lutheran High schools.

• The Steering Committee has decided to draw up plans for a Micro High School in Sedalia called Grace Alone Lutheran High School to be housed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sedalia

• The Sedalia Circuit Forum has reviewed the proposed constitution and bylaws for this Micro High School

• We now ask that each congregation vote in their next Voter’s meeting whether or not they would like to ratify the constitution and bylaws and become a member of the High School Association.

Grace Alone LHS FAQ

What is Grace Alone Lutheran High School (GALHS)? 

GALHS is the proposed name of the high school formulated by the Genesis Steering Committee of the Sedalia Circuit. It is proposed this high school follow a micro high school design located in the Sedalia area to provide a sound Christian High School alternative for young adults in the area rooted in traditional Lutheran theology

Where will it be located?

Our Savior Lutheran Church in Sedalia, MO. The voter’s assembly at Our Savior’s has already approved the use of their facilities for the high school. 

Why Sedalia?

Through extensive research in the Genesis Project, it was found more families in Sedalia are interested in the high school than anywhere else in the circuit.

How many kids/students?

As of this writing, we have about 7 students that are extremely interested in attending GALHS starting August of 2027, with about 5 more that are demonstrating a moderate level of interest, giving us the potential to have well over 10 students for our first school year. 

Why not send them to another Lutheran High School outside the immediate area?

Families interviewed indicated that they did not want to have to drive their kids this far away from home or put them in a boarding school at this young of an age. 

What is the cost?

$10 per communicant member paid annually to GALHS 

What is a Micro High School?

It is a high school conducted on a small scale, usually with only 1 or none full-time staff and part-time teachers for all other classes with student body size around 5-25

This allows deep relationship formation amongst peers and teachers and tailored education to meet students’ needs while saving costs

What is the ask of my church?

Ratify the proposed constitution and bylaws by a majority vote

Elect one board member to represent your congregation on the school board (if less than 5 churches vote to support the high school, we will ask for the election of additional board members as per Article IV of the bylaws)

Remit $10 per communicant member annually to GALHS 

Prayer for the success and dutiful following of God’s will for the high school
