Lake County recently passed Interim Ordinance No. 19-2, imposing a moratorium on short term vacation rentals in all unincorporated areas of Lake County, MN Adopted May 10, 2022 for a period of one (1) year.

The City of Two Harbors is currently in the process of updating it's short term rental ordinance. The document linked represents the third and final reading of the ordinance as of May, 25, 2022
St. Louis County does regulate short term rentals, click on the image to the left or the St. Louis County link above. Zoning Ordinance 62 regulating short term rentals applies in Organized and Unorganized Townships where St. Louis County administers the zoning ordinance regulations.

City of Rice Lake: Per City Zoning Administrator, The City of Rice Lake does not allow short term rentals/Airbnb/vrbo's in residential zoning districts. The City permits lodging/hospitality in Mixed Use, Mixed Commercial and Commercial South.
As of May 2022, Ashland County does not have a vacation/short term rental ordinance, however all other ordinances, such as sanitary system requirements must be followed. County staff indicate changes may occur in the future. Updates will be provided here, however agents and/or the public are responsible for ensuring requirements are known.
