Summer Reading 2019

Get ready for a summer reading frenzy!

WHY IS SUMMER READING IMPORTANT?

Research shows that students who read approximately 35 books per year outperform their peers in all academic subjects and on standardized tests such as the ACT, the SAT, and the LEAP 2025. It's difficult to reach that number of books if you take a break in June and July, right? Reading throughout the summer will keep you working toward that goal. Plus, there's no better way to learn about yourself and the world than through reading.

WHAT IS MY ASSIGNMENT?

Summer reading assignments are specifically designed for the many different English courses offered at Southside High School. The links below will take you to all of the information you need to complete the assignment for the English class you have signed up to take in the 2019 - 2020 school year.

WHEN IS SUMMER READING DUE?

All summer reading assignments, regardless of the course, will be due on Monday, August 19.

WHAT IF I HAVE QUESTIONS?

If you need any help with your summer reading assignment, feel free to contact Dr. Debbie Reed, the English department chairperson, at ddreed@lpssonline.com.

Happy Reading, Sharks!
