In Drama students are introduced to the basic tools of Body, Mind and Voice through activities designed to spark their imagination and sense of play .
In Dance students explore the elements of Body, Energy, Space and Time while doing creative movement activities and learning about different dance styles.
In Music students develop fundamental concepts of beat, rhythm and pitch through age appropriate musical activities. Students are also introduced to the different types of instruments as well as simple music notation.
In Visual Art students will learn about how the basic elements and principles of art apply to their own work, with a focus on personal creativity.
3rd Grade Arts
In 3rd Grade, students begin to specialize based on their interests and their aptitude.
Students are asked to choose 4 classes. The 3rd grade arts classes last 9 weeks (a quarter of the academic year).
4th and 5th Grade Arts
Students select one art form and begin formal instruction. Art classes meet 5 days a week. Regular practice at home is required and grading is rigorous. The 5th grade class prepares and performs two full musical productions a year in which all art classes participate.
