This page is the math reflection for your year in math class. It should be filled out before your conference with your parents and should guide you in discussing how math has been this year and is progressing this semester. It should also allow you to develop a plan and goals to finish the year strong.
Please discuss the following topics as a family:
“Throughout this year in math class, we have learned about…”
1. expressions & equations
2. percents
3. unit rate
4. percent proportions
5. graphing
6. integers and rational numbers
Something I found that was easy was working with percents and unit rates
Something I found that was interesting was learning about proportions
Something difficult for me was completing some assignments
What is your current academic mark? My current academic mark is 2.5.
What types of assignments make up my academic mark? Quizzes and tests make up my academic mark.
What has Mr Tuke allowed us to use on most quizzes, tests, and assessments to help the class remember how to complete the problems? He has let us use calculators and we can use extra papers on math quizzes and tests.
What do you think your work habit mark should be? I think my work habits mark should be at least a 3.
What does your work habit grade mean, and why should you consider it important?
Do you have any missing assignments? I have 5 missing assignments.
Do you have any late assignments? I have 3 late assignments.
Why do you think we look at this information? We look at this information because it lets us know how we're doing in our classes.
How does homework impact your math academic mark? It can affect our academic marks because if we don't complete our assignments, it could lower the content and academic grades
After the discussion about math, discuss the following:
Does your grade represent your work in class and at home? I think the grade does represent the work I do at home and at school.
What do YOU want your grade to be in math by the end of the semester? Why? I want my grade to be a 4 at the end of the semester because a 4 is the best grade you can get in school.
How are you going to achieve this goal? I will work harder in school and pay better attention in class.
How can Mr. Tuke help you succeed? Mr. Tuke can better support his students.
If there are any questions, please call Mr. Tuke over when he is free to talk.
