KC Metro All-District Orchestra for 7th and 8th grade:
All-District Orchestra (ADO) is an honor ensemble that meets for a one-day festival Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026 at Liberty North. It is a chance to play with other fine musicians from across the Kansas City Metro (on the Missouri side). (In case of inclement weather, the reschedule date is Jan. 24.)
The day includes rehearsal led by an outstanding guest conductor, sectionals, snacks, lunch, social breaks, and a concert!
It is an honor to be selected for this ensemble. It is competitive. Regardless of the outcome, the process of preparing and auditioning helps you grow as a musician.
Auditions are on Saturday, November 1, at South Valley Middle School during the day.
The LPS Honor Symphony is a full-orchestra experience for middle school band and orchestra students. It is a fantastic experience to have strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion together playing great repertoire! Mrs. Doss and Mr. Johnson (assistant band director at LNHS) co-direct this ensemble. Rehearsals will be at Liberty North Wednesdays from 7:00 to 8:15 PM. Some rehearsals are scheduled on Tuesday or Thursday due to building scheduling conflicts. The audition material is the same as All-District Orchestra (ADO), but with one fewer excerpt.

Auditions are open to all 7th and 8th graders enrolled in the Liberty Public Schools Orchestra Program. To audition for Honor Symphony, have your parent or guardian complete the registration form found in the letter by Sept. 10 and you submit your video recording by Sept. 26 at 3:00 PM. The video needs to include the ADO audition scale and one of the ADO excerpts (your choice which excerpt). Please read the letter thoroughly and contact Mrs. Doss or Mr. Johnson with any questions. All-District Orchestra auditions are Saturday, Nov. 1 at South Valley Middle School, in person. For the All-District Orchestra, you would play the scale and both excerpts. The best thing to do now is to start practicing! Click on your instrument below for the audition music, as well as informative videos to help you prepare your part. If you have questions or are unable to print out your part, contact your orchestra director. We are happy to help!
