Bonus and Honor Ensembles
Here at LMS:
Chamber Music at Sunrise:
7th and 8th graders have the opportunity to participate in Chamber Music at Sunrise. Students will be grouped into quartets (2 violins, viola, cello) or quintets (2 violins, viola, cello, bass). Each group will rehearse twice a week before school from 7:00 to 7:35 a.m. for performances in November. Auditions will be the week of Aug. 27-30. Rehearsals begin the week of Sept. 9.
Blue Jay Bluegrass:
Blue Jay Bluegrass, the LMS fiddle ensemble, is open to all LMS orchestra students (violin, viola, cello, and bass). No prior experience necessary, just an interest and commitment to learn a free-spirited, fun folk style. Blue Jay Bluegrass (BJBG) rehearses in October and Nov. on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00 to 3:45, performing on the Nov. concert. It resumes second semester in March and performs in the Spring. Open to all orchestra students, all grades. No audition required.
Beyond LMS:
7th and 8th graders are eligible and encouraged to audition for the Honor Symphony directed by Mrs. and Dr. Doss. It is so much fun to play with a full orchestra - strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion! Auditions are Sept. 18 and rehearsals are Wednesdays from 6:00 to 7:15 at Liberty North High School, beginning in October. See below for music.
KC Metro All-District Orchestra:
For 7th and 8th graders - audition to join outstanding players from across the Kansas City area! Auditions are Nov. 2 at SVMS. Those selected will participate in the one-day festival Jan. 12 at Paseo High School.
