Welcome back, Trailblazers! 2022-23-22 will be my seventh year in fifth grade after spending 15 years in third grade, both at Ridgeview and Lewis and Clark. A native of St. Joseph, MO and graduate of William Jewell College, I earned a master's degree in Teacher Leadership from Northwest Missouri State University. This will be my 22nd year of teaching; being out of the classroom for eight years allowed me to raise my children and pursue diverse work offerings in the entrepreneurial and non-profit world, adding to my toolbox of experiences I bring to my students.
My two children grew up in Liberty schools, Kelsey graduated from LHS in 2014 and Mitchell in 2019. Utilizing her degree in mass media, Kelsey is the public information officer for Clay County Public Health. Mitchell apprenticed in broadcast production for 7 years and accepted a full-time position as a broadcast engineer right out of high school. He has worked in the industry in Denver, Kansas City, and now Oklahoma City. Both kiddos discovered passions in 5th grade that became their professions! My husband, Myron, is a Liberty native and we've loved living and working here for 29 years, devoting ourselves to many community efforts.
When not at school, I train teachers in the methods of STEM education through Project Lead the Way, collaborate with Scholastic magazine's Super Science team, and am a part of an international teachers' cohort known as the Learning Power Pioneers. I also coach Girls on the Run, enjoy traveling, entertaining, and spending time exploring Kansas City and all it has to offer!
I look forward to seeing your family around town!
