Help Us Start Our EPiC Pollinator Garden

Dear EPiC Families,

We are excited to share that we are starting an EPiC Community Perennial Pollinator Garden on our school grounds this fall! This special outdoor learning space will provide opportunities for exploration, conservation, and hands-on learning that tie directly to our academic standards. Students will experience the wonder of nature right outside our doors as they observe pollinators, learn about ecosystems, and connect with the environment.

Studio 5 will launch this project as initial designers. This fall is the perfect time to establish our garden, and we’d love your help! Many perennials can be split and transplanted in the fall, making it an ideal way to share from your own garden and help ours grow. Additionally, early spring bulbs can be planted. If you’re dividing perennials at home, we would be grateful if you would consider donating a clump or two to our school. Or if you have extra bulbs and would like to donate perennial bulbs, we would happily plant them in our garden! 

🌼 Here are the transplants we would like to plant in our garden this fall. These are pollinator magnets and will thrive in Zone 6 (Kansas City): 

• Black-Eyed Susan (Rudbeckia fulgida or Rudbeckia hirta) – Bright and hardy

• Daylilies (Hemerocallis) – Very reliable and spread easily

• Irises 

• Milkweed
  
  

🌼 Here are spring bulbs we would like to plant in our garden this fall. These are pollinator magnets and will thrive in Zone 6 (Kansas City): 

• Hyacinths

• Daffodils

• Allium

• Tulips
