Rules and Expectations

And the rest of the story...

As for those other necessary requirements and expectations...

In Class, at Seat On-Time, ready to work.

Attendance taken by phone check in using phone caddy.

Technology-

Chromebooks - We are a 1:1 school and all students should have a district issued Chromebook or their own laptop to assist them in classwork. They are expected to be with you in class daily, although they might not always be in use. (Long term comprehension of material is still best retained through hand-written notes; see Katrina Schwartz, Mindshift.)

Anti-Personnel Devices - Smart Phones / Headphones / Earbuds etc. - per building policy cell phones should be put away, out of sight, ringers turned off, earbuds / headphones off and away as well, Not draped as jewelry, body art, etc. One exception would be at the request of the teacher to use devices for a specific class assignment.

Consequences: first offense - held by teacher until end of class second offense - held by teacher until the end of the day additional offense - referral and phone given to administration

Tardies Being late to class is disruptive and disrespectful. Attendance is taken within the first 10 minutes of class and anyone arriving after that is counted absent and will be called by the school attendance office, as per building policy.

Consequences: first offense - verbal warning from teacher additional offense - points taken from participation grade

Unexcused absences Other than it shows bad form, ditching class makes it difficult for you to do your best.

Consequences: zero for the week's participation grade

Late/ Missed WorkThis is your responsibility. If you are absent you will need to come talk to me as an instructor to get and complete your missed work. I will accept late work; however, it will be penalized one letter grade for each class day they are late. So, better sooner rather than later, but better late than never. It is in your best interest to make up any and all missed assignments.

Making up any missed work is your responsibility. This should be done in consultation with me. After five (5) days, assignments will be graded 'F', but that is better than having no grade. Weekends will count as one day. If you are willing to work to do well in this class, I will do what I can to help you achieve that goal.

Etc. Hats / Hoodies off - unless otherwise noted- all hats, all people off. Preening should be saved for the passing period. Dress should follow school policy and code, i.e. cover the Bs.

Consequences: first offense - verbal warning second offense - items held by teacher until end of day or referred to office for appropriate dress additional offenses - school discipline referral

Extra Credit? – There is no extra-credit; please do the assigned work.
