Days open/closed
We are open for care on the days there is not school but teachers are here working. An example would be parent/teacher conference days
SACC is not open during Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break and Spring Break, we follow the LPS district calendar for closures.
Reporting your child absent from SACC
Do I need to call SACC if my child is absent from school for the day? No, we check the attendance record each day and note absences that are called into the office. Children who are called in sick for school may not be brought to the SACC program for care that day.
Do I need to call SACC if my child will be at school but will not be coming to SACC? Yes, if your child will be missing a regularly scheduled afternoon, NO if your child will be missing morning SACC. We are confident that your child is safely with you if he/she is not brought in in the morning, but if the student is at school for the day and then does not sign into SACC for a scheduled afternoon the student is considered missing from the program. Our policy is to immediately call parents & any/all emergency contacts, and the police department if we cannot reach anyone until we have located the child. Please contact the SACC office before 2:00 pm if necessary. We also appreciate a call if your child is registered for in-service days and will not be attending. If we have a wait list, we can then open your child’s space and may be able to credit your account.
Sign in/out & pick up procedures:
Can my child walk to/from SACC without me? No. Our license requires that children are signed into and out of the program each day by a parent/guardian. In addition, you may not sign out or pick up your child from the playground; you must enter and exit the building through the SACC room. If you wish to visit your child on the playground during SACC hours, please sign in with a staff member and get a SACC visitor badge.
Who can pick up and sign out my child? Only persons authorized and listed by you on the enrollment form. If you have someone picking up who is not on your list we cannot release your child! Please notify a staff member if someone new is picking up so that person can be added to your list. We ID anyone that has not picked up before or who we haven’t met before.
Breakfast, homework, toys and medication:
Can my child eat breakfast at SACC? You may bring your child in with breakfast and he/she may eat at our table. We do not have a refrigerator or microwave for student use.
Are toys and electronics allowed at SACC? No. We follow the school rules that toys stay at home. Electronics are only allowed on days set aside by the program. Please watch for “game days” on the schedule.
Can my child take medication while at SACC? Yes, but only with the proper documentation from parent & physician. Contact a staff member to receive all necessary paperwork prior to your child starting medication while at SACC. All medication must be turned into SACC staff and kept in locked cabinet; children cannot keep or carry meds in the building or take them without adult supervision.
