YOU BELONG. YOUR EFFORT MATTERS. This is what shapes my classroom and how I approach my teaching. They also are the words that I try to continue to nurture in my own life as I see myself through the lens of continually growing and trying new adventures. Our most recent family adventure has been to buy a sailboat and enjoy the water in new ways! Although Colorado is not abundant in water my roots are in Northern Wisconsin (Go Pack Go!) and we spend a lot of time there when the land isn’t frozen but the mosquitoes are thriving! I fell in love with Colorado as a teen and used college as a perfect excuse to head West. Throughout the years I have enjoyed life in many capacities and have been a swimmer, triathlete, snowboarder, backpacker, snorkeler, tutor, teacher, runner, photographer, and artist...with the list continually growing! I believe we all can have a growth mindset and all can “get it" and grow every day.
..which is why I love teaching health and PE! I found that I can bring students into a place that they feel like they truly belong and their effort matters. I can connect with students and help them build self-confidence no matter their skills and abilities. I have previously taught in both Jeffco and Douglas County. I am so excited to be a Newton Knight! I believe it really captures the heart of who I am as a teacher.
I truly believe in living both the width and length of life and do it with my husband of 29 years and my two boys (age 19 and 21). They give me both joy and spirit.
