Our Extended Spring Break
We are out of school from March 16 - 29.
All students were asked to take their instruments home.
Students have ample music to practice. One 30-minute practice chart
is due when we return for each week we are out.
Here are some practice ideas:
- 6th grade: 1) The one-octave chromatic scale.
- 2) Pages 18 & 19 in the Essential Elements book, plus review of earlier pages
- 3) The three new pieces of sheet music we have, including
- Kingsbury March (recording just added on our Music We're Working On page)
- 7th grade: 1) The D-flat Concert Scale -- it's #128 on the new white scale sheet.
- 2) The pages that cover sixteenth notes in Essential Elements, Book Two.
- 3) All our new sheet music, including Zeal and A Sailor's Odyssey
- (recordings just added on our Music We're Working On page)
- 8th grade: 1) The two-octave chromatic scale -- memory tests on this
- the Tuesday of the week we get back to school.
- 2) You have lots of sheet music in your binder. Sightread your
- way through these new songs. Listen to them on jwpepper.com -- look them up
- using name, composer, and arranger. Think about which six or seven songs
- you'll want to vote for for our May concert.
Stay healthy and safe and keep practicing!!! (You can't play XBox 24/7, after all!)
