Laura McKone

Hello - I am honored to be part of this community! I look forward to being a partner in learning for students and staff. It's exciting to work together to build a place for all who enter to feel comfortable and safe to take risks and grow!

I began my teaching career in a Montessori school in Boulder before transitioning to Littleton Public Schools in 2005 to be a classroom teacher. From 2011 - 2020, I served as the Instructional Coach and Gifted & Talented Facilitator for Twain Elementary School. I am passionate about ensuring that all classrooms work to foster the best we can give students: opportunities to have voice, choice, creativity, and collaboration.

I graduated from CU-Boulder with degrees in English and Political Science before heading to CU-Denver to obtain my professional teaching credentials and a Master's degree in teaching Mathematics. I am also a Nationally Board Certified Teacher, a process that helped me reflect on best practices in education.

I have a daughter who attends Euclid Middle School, and spending time with her is my favorite activity ever. I also enjoy hiking with my dog Chaco, practicing yoga, skiing, cooking (but not cleaning!), laughing with friends, reading, or anything in the sunshine!
