8th Grade Team Expectations
Students come prepared with their materials and on time.
If a student does not have their materials, they will be marked tardy
3 tardies= after school detention
Reminders in the hallway (ex: you have one minute)
If a student needs to go to the bathroom or get water, they will ask at an appropriate time.
No leaving in the first or last 10 minutes of class. If a student needs to leave to grab something from their locker, restroom, or water it will count as a tardy.
Students can leave up to 5 times per class per quarter
Students will be written a blue pass and will return within 3 minutes
What does being prepared and on time look like?
In your seat when the bell rings
Your chromebook is charged and closed
You have your binder and your book/papers for this class with you
You have used the restroom and filled your water bottle during passing (if needed)
Students are respectful of the learning environment and follow expectations
Students use appropriate volume level
Model what the appropriate volume is for the situation
Treating property with respect (materials, the classroom, etc.)
Staying in seat during class and taking breaks when appropriate
Appropriate language for time & place
Be respectful to all
Keep hands to yourself
Teach the “why” behind personal space- this shows maturity and respect
Use positive and inclusive language to foster a sense of belonging for all students
Establish collaborative classroom norms
Reinforce positive behavior
Teach respectful redirections and responses
Chromebook Usage
Chromebook are expected to come to class charged and closed.
Chromebooks are to be used for educational purposes and at the direction of the teacher.
Misuse of a chromebook will result in an after school detention on the second offense.
Substitute Teacher Expectations
Classroom expectations are to be followed, especially when there is a guest teacher.
If a student’s name is reported by the substitute teacher, the student has the potential of having a consequence (discussion with teacher, lunch detention, after school detention, or referral to administrator).
An instructional day with a substitute teacher is treated with the same importance as a regular day.
