Mrs. Cosenza
6th Grade Language Arts
Newton Middle School
Hello and Welcome!
About Mrs. Cosenza:
This is my 15th year as an educator and my fifth here at Newton Middle School! What a great place to be! What I value most about being a teacher is building trust and positive relationships with my students, and more importantly, helping students become more confident in themselves. Middle school is certainly not the easiest time of anyone's life, but I see my role as being a nurturing and steady presence in kids' lives. Positivity meets accountability in my classroom-- we work hard and have fun together!
Outside of school, I love to spend time with my family. My husband and I have two boys, ages 9 and 6 and a sweet puppy named Teddy. I am excited that my two boys will one day be Newton Knights! Together, we enjoy camping, hiking, riding bikes, and just hanging out. I am entering the triathlon world this year, and I am excited to challenge myself in new ways.
I have Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Education from CU Boulder, and my Master's degree is in Reading and Writing with an added Language Arts endorsement from CU Denver. I come from a long line of teachers-- you might say it runs in my blood. I'm proud to be part of the Newton family! Go Sixth Grade!
My professional philosophy:
I teach to impact the future as well as my own community. I seek to educate the whole child by helping children build confidence and positive characteristics as well as academic learning. It is my passion to help kids learn to persevere, fail forward and become better along the way.
I am truly excited to learn and grow alongside my students and help them learn to navigate middle school. Sixth grade is a big transition, and I am passionate about helping kids grow in confidence, independence and their Language Arts skills.
