Allie Slocum

I was born and raised in Perkasie, Pennsylvania. It's a Lenape Indian word meaning "the place where hickory nuts were cracked." It's the only town with that name in the whole world.

I graduated from Cedarville University in 1994 and taught 3rd grade at a private school for five years.

I married my husband Todd in September of 2000. We moved to Colorado the next month. I taught 3rd and 4th grades at Mark Twain Elementary for four years until we had our first daughter.

I love reading, writing, tigers, sloths, hiking, scrapbooking and gardening. In my spare time, I write the Character Club series for 3rd graders and up. I am excited and honored that three of them have been in the LPS Battle of the Books contest from 2018-2022.  Books can be found here.

As the Gifted and Talented Literacy Facilitator at Ford Elementary, I feel so grateful to work with bright, imaginative, deep-thinking and fun students in grade levels K-5.

Sincerely,

Allie Slocum
