Why I Teach:
I always wanted to be a teacher from the time I was young. I loved school and learning, especially reading and writing. However, I really struggled in math and had a negative mindset about my abilities. In 8th grade, I had a math teacher that helped me understand math better and gave me confidence as well as my High School Geometry teacher. These teachers, along with a few others, inspired me to become a teacher. I want to make a difference in teenagers lives the way my high school coaches and teachers did in my life. I feel so privileged to be a teacher at Arapahoe High School. Being a high school teacher is so fun and I also believe it is important work. I am passionate about inspiring students to reach their goals and develop strategies to overcome their weaknesses so they can be successful in school and life. I want my students to understand and embrace their weaknesses and strengths. I strive to make Arapahoe High School a more inclusive environment where differences are valued and respected and students are given the tools to achieve their greatest potential. As a case manager and teacher, I come along side students to support them and inspire them to find their passions and purpose in life. It is a priority for me to teach students self-determination and self-advocacy skills. It is my goal to improve my student's reading and writing skills and push them to think more deeply and critically. I believe that parents play a crucial role in their teenager's lives and in order to meet student's needs effectively, we have to work together. Thank you for partnering with me in your child's education!
