Nellie Dennis

Hello! My name is Nellie Dennis. I am thrilled to be part of the 4th grade team at Justina Ford Elementary!

I have worked with kids for 17 years. I've had many jobs unrelated to teaching, but I always find myself drawn back to elementary schools! Kids have such a fascinating way of seeing the world, and communicating what they see, that I find I learn so much when I am lucky enough to be around them! I have worked with all ages of elementary students, and I have run special programs in math and reading while I was employed with Douglas County School District. I began working towards my teacher's certificate when my daughter was born, and completed my student teaching at Moody Elementary before Covid hit. Last year, I was the Para for third grade students at Ford.

I have two children- Robert, who will be starting 6th grade at Newton; and Virginia, who will be in second grade at Ford. My husband and I are both Colorado natives, so when we aren't at school, we are often spending time with our families. I also enjoy walking our dog (Althea!), camping, baking with my husband, embroidery, reading, and writing.
