About Me:
I grew up in Littleton and attended Littleton High School. While at Littleton I was a three sport athlete (football, basketball and baseball). Academically I graduated with honors. I truly enjoyed my high school experience. I then attended college on a football scholarship at Baylor University which is located in Waco, TX. I received my Bachelor's degree along with a Master's degree in Physical Education. My career as a teacher and coach began in Texas with nine years being at Katy High School in Katy, Texas. I was a Football Coach and a Head Baseball Coach during my tenure there. After eleven years in Texas, I moved to Colorado to be closer to family. As an educator in Colorado I was blessed to be in several positions in education that ranged from teaching to administration. As a coach I was fortunate to be both a Head Coach in Baseball and Football at different locations in the the metro area. I retired early after serving as an Athletic Director and Assistant Principal at Golden High School. I did this so I could get back into the classroom and on the athletic field which has always been my true passion in life. Working with high school age kids and developing positive relationships both in the classroom and on the athletic field has been a blessing. I moved to AZ for 6 years and was a Head Football Coach and a Strength and Agility Coach at a large High School in the Phoenix area. During this time my grandson, Christian, was born, and I wanted to be around him more so I moved back to Colorado. He is the child of my oldest son, Derek, who is currently teaching in the Jefferson County School District. After a year away from education, I took a slight detour to Nashville for one year to spend time with my youngest son, Tyler, who is quite the musician there. I was able to teach and coach football at a high school in the area. Upon completion of that year, I was fortunate to receive a job here at Arapahoe High School as a teacher and coach. I am very blessed to be around such a great school. The community here is special.
My Family:
In the previous section I mentioned a little bit about my family, but I left out one very important person and that would be my wife of 43 years, Susan. All that I was able to do and accomplish would not have been possible without her support. She is quite the woman. Not only is she an unbelievable wife, she is also a wonderful mother and an awesome "Gammy" to our grandson, Christian, whom we are now raising as he lives with us. She is also very talented as she plays the piano, writes music and sings. She was a piano performance major at Baylor University. She was an elementary music teacher for several years along with being a Praise and Worship Leader at the church we attended here in Colorado before retiring to what she currently does now and that is teach piano lessons and raise our 8 year old grandson. I must say not the easiest of task.
My Belief:
I learned a very important lesson as a college counselor at a summer camp, Kanakuk Kamp, in Branson, MO. that I try to live by. This camp changed my life. It simply states:
God First, Others Second and I'm Third
