About me: I grew up in the Northwoods of Michigan which makes me a Yooper (and not from the "Hand" of Michigan). My passion for education and youth surrounded me at an early age-my father was a youth camp director and my mom was a teacher. My love of the outdoors, water skiing, and travel were also an important part of my childhood. After high school, I went first to the University of Tennessee before getting my degree from Colorado State. Once I had experienced Colorado there was no turning back and I have been here ever since.
My family: wife, four kids-three boys (ages 16, 13 and 11) and daughter (6) love spending time with our two dogs, being outdoors-hiking, biking, and skiing, as well as the many seasons of youth and high school sports.
Education: Graduated from West Iron County High School-Home of the Wykons (happy to share what a Wykon is-just ask). Bachelors of Arts: Liberal Arts from Colorado State University, Masters of Education: Education Administration from University of Northern Colorado.
Professional Experience: This fall I will begin my 20th year in education, all of them with Littleton Public Schools-first as a Social Studies teacher at Options High School, an assistant principal at Powell Middle School, and currently the Coordinator of Alternative Learning. I am blessed with the opportunity to work with the students and staff of the Voyager and Next Programs in the district.
Why Voyager: I love the opportunity to work directly with students, staff and families. The small environment provides time and space to have real conversations and partnership to watch students learn, grow and find their next steps.
About me:
Education: B.A. in Chemistry from Appalachian State University, Masters in Education from Loyola Marymount University
Professional Experience: West Contra Costa Unified School District/Chemistry/AP Biology/International Educator, July 2018 - June 2024, Richmond, CA
International Educator: Participate and help facilitate several meetings each week to modify and differentiate curriculum for a diverse student population. Present and collaborate on different academic scaffolds to support English learners. Attend monthly professional developments about language development and implement new strategies into the classroom. Used language data (i.e. ELPAC/STAR tests) to inform and differentiate instruction to see 72% of students increase in their reading scores.
AP Biology: Designed and conducted lessons and labs for students to prepare them for the AP Exam.
Why Voyager: I love teenagers and education and think Voyager is a great opportunity for me to better serve students outside of the traditional confines of a classroom. I’m really excited about how creative I am allowed to be as an educator and even more excited to see students grow in their creativity.

About me: My family roots are in Western New York, but I was born in Massachusetts and grew up in New Mexico. I have lived and worked in Colorado for 30+ years, first as a camp counselor, then as a high school English teacher, and now as a school counselor and clinical therapist. Currently, I'm a married father of four–my children range in age from 4 to 22–which gives me plenty of perspective when it comes to young people. I love skiing, backpacking, golf, reading, Colorado sports teams, and cooking in my backyard for loved ones and neighbors using my wood-fired, outdoor pizza oven.

Why Voyager: At Voyager, I have finally found a unique work environment that aligns with my background and interests as an educator. The student-staff ratio here allows me to work as a counselor the way it is intended: I have the flexibility and time to get to know all of our students and their stories and to intervene and support appropriately. I am also able to serve as an educational leader here and lead an SEL curriculum tailored to our students' needs. Most of our students arrive here because, for whatever reason, they are not getting what they need from a comprehensive high school. To be a bit frank, neither was I! I’m so glad to have landed in a place where everyday I believe I am doing meaningful work.
About me: I have 3 beautiful children, an adorable Aussie Doodle and a wild Corgie. I love to craft, paddle board, and garden. I have lived in Nebraska, Indiana, and California, but settled in Colorado in 2001.
Education: I have a BS in "Interdepartmental Degree in Liberal Arts" from Colorado State University and an MA in Special Education from the University of Colorado Denver. I completed my 200 hr yoga instruction certification in 2023, and am working towards my 500 hr certification. Every year, I try to take graduate classes one of a kind or another to keep expanding my understanding of the world.
The Colorado Board of Education licenses me to teach Business/Marketing, English Language Arts, Family and Consumer Studies Education, Health Education, Physical Education, Social Studies Education and Special Education Generalist. (Phew! That's a mouthful!)
Professional Experience: After I graduated from CSU, I spent some time in DCSD working as a Special Needs Paraprofessional. In Aurora, I worked in a traditional high school setting for a couple of years, but that wasn’t for me. I began teaching at Voyager in 2008 and haven’t looked back since.
Why Voyager: Voyager is such a unique learning environment. With our small class sizes and small number of staff, we are more like a family than a school. Voyager has changed drastically since its inception, reflecting on what students need to learn. We focus on building a community, having a comfortable work environment, and engaging students in learning rather than just teaching them.

Professional Experience:

Why Voyager: Flexibility to be creative and really teach to the individual student without all of the distractions and obligations of a traditional big high school.
About me:
Education: MA in Psychology and Counseling at CU-Denver and BA in Mathematics at Washburn University Colorado License in 9-12 Mathematics and P-21 Counseling.
Professional Experience: I have taught mathematics and coached for over 30 years. 26 years at Highlands Ranch high school, 1 year at Viken Middle School in Brighton and 4 years Shawnee Heights Jr/Sr high school and was an adjunct instructor in mathematics at Washburn University in Kansas. I have coached volleyball, basketball, softball, tennis and was a state track official for 18 years.
Why Voyager: I retired with 30 years with PERA in 2017. I lasted 30 days in my retirement and was hired as a programs assistant with the Intermountain Division of USTA (United States Tennis Association). When the pandemic in 2020 hit I quit my job and went back to subbing. I missed teaching and when I saw the job opening for Voyager I knew this was the right place for me. I enjoy teaching here because I have the freedom to work with students from their starting point in mathematics and I have the knowledge in mathematics to help my students to have success in a subject they feel they can’t be successful in. Voyager allows me the opportunity to teach and connect with students without all the other obligations and responsibilities of a traditional high school.
