Language Arts in first grade will involve a lot of writing! Our two big goals for writing in first grade are the following Core Knowledge standards:

• First graders should be able to express themselves comfortably and legibly in writing.
• Children take pleasure in being able to write messages, stories, etc. on their own.

Language arts also includes a variety of Core Knowledge idioms, stories, and poetry.
