About Me
Bio
Howdy! My name is Liam Kelley, and this is my second year teaching at Heritage High School!
A little background on me— I graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor's Degree in English and a concentration in Education in 2017. Following this adventure, I spent 2018 abroad in Chile, where I worked for a closed-captioning company and taught adult ESL. When I returned to the United States, I worked as a substitute teacher for Douglas County School District.
Previously, I've taught 8th grade language arts— both traditional and advanced— at Powell Middle School, a place near and dear to my heart. Go Pumas!
I enjoy reading and writing poetry, as well as some fiction, and I have a passion for theatre— this year I will be HHS's Drama Assistant. I've been playing guitar for more time than I would care to remember. And I'm a nut about science fiction and fantasy.
My Philosophy
Student discovery drives what I do. I want my students to explore— cultivating their own opinions and views of the world. Language Arts presents a unique opportunity to develop empathy, critical thinking, and analytical skills— but that doesn't mean it has to be boring. I like to goof around, and I strive to make learning fun, exciting, and wacky.
