Presenting with Julia Montano at the NAGC: Keep GT Weird: Utilizing Humor for Creativity, SEL, and Gifted Identification
I am so excited to be your Gudy Gaskill Gifted and Talented Facilitator! My journey as a teacher is shaped by my love of instruction and personal relationships, and also by my passion for Gifted Education (neurodiversity).
A little teaching background: I have been the GT Facilitator in the Highland, Franklin and (now) Gaskill community for eight amazing years. Previously, I taught at an international boarding school--The American School in Switzerland and in Douglas County.
In 2022, I presented with Julia Montano, our LPS GT Director, for the National Gifted Association for Children annual conference and the Denver Metro Gifted Education. I was also honored to be included on the LPS Gifted Education Monitoring Team as well as the Gaskill Guiding Coalition.
I coordinate the district’s annual Math Competition and our mentoring program, Mathletes, which connects LPS high school students with talented fifth graders.
Please email me with any thoughts that you have about your student. The GT program works best in collaboration with Gaskill parents, so I always appreciate your input!
Sincerely,
Emily Abell eabell@lps.k12.co.us
