Sr. Riordan

Bio:

Sr. Riordan is a Chicagoan native who has lived in Colorado and taught at Arapahoe for the last 22 years.  He is passionate to teach and coach the things he loves and wants to pass this passion on to his students. He currently teaches Spanish 1 and Spanish 3, and by the end of this year he will have coached 57 sport seasons: 

    -Football (21 years - 16 at Arapahoe and 5 at Cherry Creek)

     -Wrestling (22 years)

     -Girls Golf (12 years, Last 5 as Head Coach)

     -Boys Tennis (only in 2020 when there was an additional 4th sport season)

-Boy Golf (This is my first season with them)

Sr. Riordan received a BA in Spanish and a Certificate in Foreign Language Education from the University of Iowa and spent 1 year at the Universidad del Pais Vasco (Spain).

He also received a MA in Foreign Language Education: Spanish Teaching Emphasis from the University of Northern Colorado and spent 6 weeks at the Universidad de Salamanca (Spain).

We credential with the Global Seal of Biliteracy. The Global Seal of Biliteracy is an international credential that conveys proficiency with language skills in two or more languages for our students. This credential offers a competitive advantage for our students by helping them earn scholarships, higher pay, college credit, increased study abroad opportunities and so much more. A seal of biliteracy is a credential given by a Colorado school or district recognizing students who have studied and attained proficiency in two or more languages by high school graduation.  A seal of biliteracy encourages students to pursue biliteracy skills that are attractive to future employers and college admissions office.   

Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is an honor society for high school students enrolled in Spanish, sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.
