"The dream begins with a teacher who believes in you, who tugs and pushes and leads you to the next plateau, sometimes poking you with a sharp stick called "truth."

Welcome to your 5th Grade year at Ford Elementary.

I am so excited to begin our journey together!

A Little Bit About My Background:

I began my teaching career at the University of Colorado Boulder. I was lucky enough to graduate in 2007 with a degree in History and Elementary Education. I did my student teaching in Cherry Creek Schools during the fall of 2007. I was hired into my first teaching position during the summer of 2008. I was a 5th-grade teacher in Douglas County Schools from 2008 until 2011. My journey then led me to Franklin Elementary in LPS for ten years. We are now in year three supporting and continuing to build this incredible Ford community! Year three LET'S GO!

What To Expect In My Classroom:

As we are getting into our routines and developing our schedule and curriculum, I want you all to know that there will also be a major piece of our classroom that sets us apart. I am a big believer in fostering high self-esteem for students beginning at an early age. If our children can start to be confident and believe in themselves now, who knows how high they will be able to soar in the future. We will be incorporating self-esteem-boosting activities into the classroom every week. Our classroom will also surround the students with positive energy celebrating their accomplishments inside and outside of the classroom. As the students will tell you, we operate in a NO-NEGATIVITY ZONE! Students are more than academic beings. I am all about focusing on the whole student so that they can achieve what they are truly capable of! I am also a teacher that will push my students to their limits because that is when they truly learn what they are made of. Randy Pausch said it best: "The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough."
