LPMS Strong @ 36: Celebrating the Greatest Show

To celebrate years and the journey with LPMSians, Las Pinas Montessori School welcomed its 36th year with a virtual celebration of talent, creativity and fun with our students online!

Launching the event last February 19, 2020 LPMS opened the celebration to the theme: LPMS Strong @ 36. It celebrated everyday virtual apps merged with fun creative activities for the whole school. Upon launching the event, the whole LPMS community was present to formally open this year’s Foundation Day Celebration.

LPMS Strong @ 36 opened with 5 major events: Art Attack, Online Catwalk, Lipsync Battle, Footloose and That’s 1 Minute, all of which prepared for and executed virtually. Each event held their own workshops, orientations and practices with teachers assigned as Event Chairs for the Program.

Art Attack was one of the most successful competitions, opened to all LPMSians which garnered a total of 77 submitted artworks from CASA, Sped to Grades 1-6. Through Art Attack, our LPMSians were given a chance to be as creative and as artistic as they can. Three categories were given for this competition: a coloring contest for our CASA and SPED group, a poster making contest with the theme Favorite Memories for our Primary and SPED classes, and a Strong @ 36 Poster Making competition for the Intermediate level. All students were tasked to finish their artworks live in zoom and we were amazed by their fun and creative artworks.

A lot of LPMSians also joined and enjoyed the exhibition Online Catwalk where they were given a chance to dress up and create their own virtual fashion shows in the comforts of their home. We had a blast watching our LPMSians confidently create their own runways and have fun dressing up with our categories: Sunday’s Best, Gym Look and Favorite Costume. And to top off their looks, they had to embellish their face masks. The outpour of amazing videos from our LPMSians led to the creation of the Online Catwalk: People’s Choice Award where the Top 15 Best Videos were shown to the LPMS Team and to the students themselves wherein they voted for their Top 5 People’s Choice Awardees.

Next, we planned the Lipsync Battle wherein the Grades 1-3 students gave their own renditions of Disney Songs while the Grades 4-6 belted out tunes from movie soundtracks. The Lipsync Battle Event Chairs and Judges truly had their work cut out for them because all Lipsync videos were truly a reflection of talent from our LPMSians! We had iconic renditions from Disney Movies to classic movies and the Lipsync Battle will truly be a one of a kind celebration to remember!

To also match the online frenzy, we also organized the That’s 1 Minute Vlog Competition where Grades 4-6 students were challenged to create a 1 minute vlog summarizing their unforgettable moments in LPMS! Inspired by videos from NAS Daily, the Grades 4-6 participants were able to tell their stories in just one minute, blowing us away with their stories, memorable photos and even editing styles!

And lastly, we held the Footloose competition. This competition proved to be a special one during the Strong @ 36 celebration, as it allowed not only students but their whole families to join in! Yes, for the Footloose competition, LPMSians were challenged to create their own choreography to the song Dynamite by BTS with their whole family. We had a blast watching our students and their families bond over practices, costume preparation and the dance itself and it truly made us feel as if we were together through their performances!

After weeks of preparation, the culminating activity of the LPMS Strong @ 36 was held last March 13, 2020 via FB Live with over 225 netizens (and likes!) tuning in to our Greatest Show. During the culminating event, pre-recorded Class Performances from all levels were shown, contest winners were awarded and the LPMS Community Performance: The Greatest Show was shared to all.

Truly we can see that the bond between LPMS and our beloved students stand strong amidst challenges. As we celebrated the 36 years of our journey as Las Pinas Montessori School, we are also grateful for the never ending support from our co-faciliators: our dear parents. We are proud and thankful to be in partnership with a community that is ready to listen, and ready to act in unison, kindness and in patience as we settled into a new chapter in our virtual learning experiences.

We remain united and strong, together virtually and beyond boundaries. Happy Foundation Day to us all!
