Third grade is a BIG year for students as they gain more independence and become more responsible. It is also a critical year academically, as they are required to meet rigorous academic standards. There is a lot to learn in third grade and much for you as parents to know about our class. I look forward to working with your child this school year and for the opportunity to be in partnership with you. Together, we can help make your child have an enjoyable, successful, and memorable third grade year!

Math: Module 6 - In module 6, students tell time to the nearest minute and use linear models to solve and represent elapsed time word problems. Students describe, analyze, and compare properties of two-dimensional shapes. They compare and classify shapes by the number of sides and angles and make connections to the attributes of shapes. Students recognize perimeter as an attribute of plane figures and solve real-world and mathematical problems involving perimeter. Students also represent and interpret data by using scaled picture graphs, scaled bar graphs, and line plots.
This week students will:
Identify parallel and perpendicular lines.
Classify a quadrilateral based on its properties.
Identify right, acute, obtuse, and straight angles.
Area and Perimeter
Find the perimeter of a figure
Solve real-life problems involving perimeters of
polygons, including finding missing lengths.
I can interpret data from graphs.
