Matt Futch

I am Matt Futch and currently serve as a middle school special education teacher, bringing 26 years of experience in education.  I am a proud Lowndes High School graduate.  I earned a bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education from Georgia Southern University and later earned a master’s degree from Valdosta State University.

Throughout 26 years of service, I have been committed to supporting students and helping them reach their full potential. I am passionate about creating a positive, supportive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.

I love teaching kids because I get to be a part of their growth and help them discover their confidence, creativity, and love for learning. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing a child learn something new and knowing I helped make that possible. 

My Classroom Philosophy

I believe every child is capable of learning, growing, and making a meaningful contribution to our classroom community. My classroom is a place where students are encouraged to be curious, ask questions, take thoughtful risks, and discover the joy of learning.

Favorite Subject/Topic:

I love teaching Physical Education and coaching football. I enjoy helping students stay active, build confidence, develop teamwork skills, and discover the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle. 

Hobbies:  

Hunting, Fishing, and spending time with my family.

Fun Fact:  

I served honorably in the United States Air Force for 4 years.  I went to serve my country and see the world and my last duty station was Moody, AFB.

Favorites:

Starbuck’s “Pike’s Place” coffee, working in my yard, watching Illinois State football games, and listening to music.
