Who Is Ms. Linn?
Teaching is a second career for me, but it is the place where I feel that I am finally at home. I believe that every child can learn and that every child has a right to be taught in the way that they learn best. As teachers and staff at Dewar, we are each responsible in some small way for the education of every child that enters the front door. I graduated from Furman University in Greenville, SC with my B.A. in Drama in 1990. I received my Master's degree in Special Education from Valdosta State University in May of 2007 and began teaching in the Fall of 2007 as a special education teacher. I taught at Dewar prior to accepting a position at Westside Elementary School beginning with the 2015-16 school year. From 2015 until the end of the 2023 school year, I taught the Language Enriched Academics Program (LEAP) class. I then earned my endorsement in dyslexia and worked with K-5th grade striving readers for over 2 years. I am now back home at Dewar in 2nd grade and am looking forward to getting to know your child and your family!
I have two children who both attended Lowndes County Schools from PreK/Kindergarten on. They were both students at DES all the way through 5th grade! My daughter is an ICU nurse at SGMC, and my son is working for the Social Security Administration In Athens. I am proud to be a small part of the Lowndes County School System! Your child is the reason I love my job!
