Hi! My name is Mrs. Watkins, and I am so excited to be your fourth grade math teacher! It’s going to be a fun year full of lots of learning and new adventures. I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us! I want to know ALL about you, but first I’m going to tell you a few things about me.
I was raised in Douglas, Georgia, and I am the middle child of three. I have an older sister, Mandy, and a younger brother, Dustin. It was SO much fun growing up with them. When I graduated from high school, I moved to Valdosta to attend Valdosta State University. I majored in Early Childhood Education and couldn’t wait to start teaching! I decided shortly after I started teaching that I wanted to go back to school and get my master’s degree in Early Childhood Education so I could learn even more about teaching!
While I was in college I met a wonderful man named Paul Watkins. We dated all through college and were married right before my graduation. We have been married for fourteen years now. We have twin boys, Kade and Bennett, who are 10 years old, and a little girl named Hallie, who is 6 years old. We also have a fourteen year old rat terrier named Tuff.
I taught first grade for three years at Sallas Mahone Elementary. During my third year I found out I was going to be the mother of twins!! I decided to take some time off to spend with my children. I loved spending seven years at home with them! When they were all school age I decided to head back to the classroom. I spent one year teaching Kindergarten at Valwood. Then, returned to Sallas Mahone and taught fourth grade Math & Science for two years. My children and I are so excited to be joining the Dewar Elementary family! I will continue to teach fourth grade. I am very excited to be at Viking and get the chance to work with you and your child.
