Arrival / Dismissal
Our school doors open at 7:30 AM. Students are allowed to enter the classroom starting at 7:35. The tardy bell rings at 8:00. If your child wants to eat breakfast at school, he/she must arrive before 8:00AM and go directly to the lunchroom before coming to class. The dismissal bell rings at 2:45. If you need to change your child’s transportation for the day, please send a note in writing to let me know. Emails and phone calls cannot be accepted.
Lunch and Ice Cream
All Lowndes County Schools students will receive free breakfast and lunch this year!
Parents may come to have lunch with their child anytime. Please check in with the office and meet our class in the lunchroom. Parents eating with their child may sit in the lunchroom or at the outside patio area.
Ice Cream is sold for 3rd grade on Tuesdays during lunch. The cost is $2.00. Students who wish to purchase ice cream should turn their money in during homeroom.
Absences
Please send a note in writing every time your child is late, absent, or has to leave early. Doctor’s excuses are needed for our records. If a note is not received within 3 days of the absence, then it is counted as unexcused. If your student is absent from school, he or she is required to make up the assignments missed. Your student will be given an opportunity to complete missed work in class.
Parent - Teacher Communication
The best way to stay involved is to check your child's progress folder every Friday. Friday Folders will also keep you well-informed about what we are learning, as well as how your child is progressing. You'll usually find it filled with tests and classwork assignments, letters from school, flyers, notices from the office, as well as notes from me. Please take a few moments to review your child’s work. Learning from mistakes is very powerful, so going over missed questions on tests and assignments at home is one of the best things you can do to help your child learn. Your child’s weekly conduct (Satisfactory,Needs Improvement, Unsatisfactory) will also be recorded. Feel free to email me or message me on the Lowndes County Schools (One Lowndes) app with any questions you have at anytime. Please sign the Friday folder each week and return it to school the following Monday.
Grades
Grades will be posted to Infinite Campus regularly. Download the Infinite Campus Parent Mobile app or click the link for Parent Portal on the HES website to view your student’s grades. If you need help logging into your account you can email portal@lowndes.k12.ga.us. For assistance.
Homework
Homework will be sent home each Monday in your child’s blue folder. Homework does not need to be returned until Friday. Homework will be an extension of the content being taught in class and may consist of skills practice, vocabulary words, and notes to study for tests. Students will be rewarded for completing and returning homework.
Birthdays
We love to celebrate our classmates! You may also send in cupcakes or a class snack on your child’s birthday. Please let me know in advance if you plan to send in a snack. Birthday snacks will be passed out during our recess time.
