Margaret Mitchell grew up around family members who loved to tell stories. As a young child, one of her favorite things to do was write stories. She attended a private school called Woodberry School. In 1914, she attended the Washington Seminary. During this time, the USA entered World War 1. The girls at Margaret's school would attend military dances. At one of these events, Margaret met a friend named Clifford Henry. She and Clifford spent a lot of time together. However, he had to leave America to fight in the war in France. In 1918, he died in this war.
