Concerts are a wonderful opportunity for our students to showcase all of the progress they are making as a group. The support and encouragement of family and friends in the audience makes concerts even more memorable for students. Look for specific dates for the whole year by the start of school, and please mark them in your family calendar. Always feel free to invite your family and friends to our free concerts! We also frequently offer livestreaming so friends and family can watch even if they are unable to be there in person. Our performances take place at the Lowell Performing Arts Center at LHS unless otherwise noted. Most concerts start at 7:00 PM, and students report 30 minutes prior to the start of the concert to warm-up and prepare as a group. Students do not have a uniform in their first year, so we ask them to wear a white shirt or top and a black skirt or pants. If other groups are performing on the concert, all of our students remain in the audience after they perform on stage to support their fellow Lowell musicians.
Beginning Band Premiere - November The Beginning Band will perform for parents, family, and friends for their very first concert! They will show off what they've learned so far by demonstrating short songs from their book, as well as a full length concert piece or two. They'll knock your socks off!
Beginning Band Solo Night - February This performance will take place at the middle school. Students will perform in a classroom for a guest music teacher, and their parents and family. We will also have ice cream, sponsored by the Lowell Music Boosters!
Spring Band Concert - May The Beginning Band will show of a year's worth of learning by performing 4-6 full pieces of sheet music, arranged for full band. This concert also features our Concert Band (mostly second year players), who will perform after the Beginners, and sometimes the Symphonic Band (third year players) and the LMS Jazz Band as well! The Beginning Band will stay to watch the older students so they can get a sense of what they'll accomplish in another year or two. We may even close the evening with a large, combined band finale with everyone playing together!
6th Grade Orchestra Informance - October The Sixth Grade Orchestra students perform for family and friends in a concert that also informs families what students have learned, are working to learn, and need to reinforce at home including practice habits, good instrument posture, and instrument care. You'll be pleasantly surprised how well the orchestra already plays together!
6th Grade Orchestra Winter Concert - December Students perform seasonal tunes and classical favorites for a performance in the Lowell Performing Arts Center alongside other middle school students.
6th Grade Orchestra Recital Night - April The Beginning Orchestra will perform more advanced songs as an ensemble at this concert than you will have heard from them before, plus we will hear from students who volunteer to perform in solos and duets.
All Strings Concert - May Our orchestra program grades 6-12 will all perform together in the high school gym. Each orchestra performs one song alone and then all play together two pieces as a cumulative group of over 350 string players! It's a fun festival atmosphere that everyone enjoys!
The middle school and high school choirs perform on a concert together at the end of each trimester, in November, February, and May. This is a wonderful opportunity to see how our singers grow musically from 6th through 12th grade!
