Our What's On listings aim to promote activities that bring people together and support community life in St Thomas and the surrounding areas.
We welcome events that meet at least one of the following criteria:
1. Genuinely free events
Events that are open to the public and completely free to attend and participate in, regardless of who organises them.
There must be no admission charges, compulsory purchases, membership fees or other hidden costs.
Importantly, participants should be able to attend and take part without any expectation or social pressure to spend money, even if no purchase is formally required.
For example, a free pub quiz would not normally qualify, because participants are generally expected to buy drinks. A market that is free to enter would qualify, because visitors can browse without any expectation that they will make a purchase.
2. Events organised on a not-for-profit basis
Events organised by charities, Community Interest Companies (CICs), voluntary groups, community organisations and informal or unconstituted not-for-profit groups operating in St Thomas and the surrounding areas.
These events may charge admission, sell tickets or request donations, provided they are organised on a not-for-profit basis.
Commercial events that charge for admission or participation.
Events advertised as free where there is an explicit or implied expectation that participants will make a purchase.
Free introductory or taster sessions primarily intended to sell products, services or paid memberships.
Sales promotions or advertisements for businesses rather than genuine community events.
Private events that are not open to the wider community.
Events should take place in St Thomas or the surrounding areas, or have a clear connection to the local community.
We reserve the right to decline listings that do not meet the conditions above.
