Hello Live Oak Middle School Parents!
Live Oak Middle School (LOMS) provides a limited amount of counseling and guidance services through the office of our School Counselor. Generally, teachers and parents refer for access to such services and students may self-refer as well. Counseling services are provided by Ellen Murphy, School Counselor or Chico State Interns supervised by Ellen Murphy.
Guidance services may be provided in either a small group, individual setting, or in the classroom. Examples of topics frequently covered in such meetings could include: Avoiding peer pressure, decision making skills, communication skills, problem solving, interpersonal relations, academic performance, and conflict resolution. These services are not intended to be a substitute for treatment of a mental health disorder or therapy. All issues discussed in the counseling setting will be kept in the strictest of confidence, unless otherwise required by law. Every attempt will be made to avoid having any student miss instructional time. However, this may not always be possible.
If you are interested in having your child receive such services, please fill out this on-line referral form and I will contact you ASAP.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact Ellen Murphy directly on (530) 635-1277, or (530) 695-5435 x1502. Or you can email her on emurphy@lousd.k12.ca.us.
