Expectations

Needed materials* (bring every day):

  • BYOD
  • binder
  • loose leaf lined paper
  • pencil/pens
  • highlighter
  • ear buds
  • silent reading book

Electronics: Chromebook/

computer/ BYOD use is a privilege. Students will receive a detention and may lose this privilege if they are caught on sites/using extensions that are not a part of a daily in-class assignment. Off-task electronic use will not be tolerated; this includes working on assignments for other classes, playing games, electronic communication with other students, checking Aeries or emailing without permission, unauthorized web surfing, etc. If you are unsure about what is considered "off task," ask your teacher! For more information, see our Acceptable Use of District Technology Form, which students signed upon registration:

"You may use District Technology only for class assignments or for personal research on subjects similar to what you might study in a class or in the school library. Use for entertainment purposes, such as personal blogging, instant messaging, on-line shopping, video streaming, video downloads, or gaming is not allowed." (p. 3)

*If you are not able to supply your own materials, please see me in advance so that you are prepared each day. I can help.

Class Rules:

  • Respect yourself and others.
  • Be prepared.
  • Arrive on time.

Citizenship grades are explained here.

Absences:

  • Find out what you missed ASAP (same day/beforehand is even better). Email sgarza@losal.org or ask a friend; check Aeries/Google Classroom to print sheets at home.
  • Full (not reduced credit) if made up in a timely manner

Academic Dishonesty:

  • Cheating includes, but is not limited to: plagiarism of a web site, book, or another student's work; copying CW, HW, tests, essays, or projects (in part or in whole); using a device to find answers during a quiz; or helping another student to cheat by providing answers or work to copy. Students are expected to show Lion Pride by making ethical decisions. Cheating will result in a detention/referral and will negatively impact the student's citizenship grade.

Late work:

  • Late work (not absent) = 0 pts. The "red" in Aeries will disappear once it is turned in, but the score may remain a zero.

Note:

      • Reduced credit (usually half) on late work may be given to students with a C- or lower in Reading or Language Arts.
      • Major essays/projects = 5%-30% reduction on assignment score, depending on severity of lateness
