LAHS Academic Honesty Policy 2025-2026
Academic Honesty: Los Alamitos High School expects all students to uphold integrity in all academic work. Grades must reflect a student's own knowledge and effort.
Academic dishonesty includes but is not limited to:
Plagiarism (using someone else’s work or ideas without proper credit)
Copying or sharing assignments
Using unauthorized help or materials on tests, assignments, or projects (e.g., notes, cell phones, AI tools)
Submitting work that is not your own, even if edited or revised by someone else
Providing or receiving answers, in person or digitally
Forging signatures, altering records, or stealing academic materials
Sabotaging others’ work
Violations apply to all school-related work, both in and out of class. Consequences may include:
A “0” on the assignment or grade penalty
Suspension or disciplinary referral
Dismissal from student leadership, athletics, or extracurriculars
Involuntary transfer or expulsion
NOTE: Students who have a documented instance of cheating or plagiarism during their high school experience are not eligible for Valedictorian or National Honor Society consideration.

LAHS Mobile Communication Device Policy
Mobile Device Policy (Per Board Policy 5131.8: Mobile Communication Devices)
This policy includes phones, smartwatches, smart glasses, gaming devices, AirPods, earbuds, and similar technology.
Devices must be off and out of sight during class and instruction.
No use allowed during instructional time.
Responsible use is permitted during lunch, passing periods, and other non-instructional times per school rules.
Devices are prohibited in restrooms, locker rooms, and other private areas.
For urgent needs, families should call the school office, not contact students directly.
Violations may result in confiscation and progressive discipline.
The District is not liable for lost, stolen, or damaged devices.
Exceptions to this policy may only be granted through administrative review on a case-by-case basis per CA Ed Code 48901.5, 48901.7.
