Los Al ASB Position Information 2025-26
Each ASB/Class officer must be an active member of Los Alamitos High School at the time of candidacy and tenure of office.
Prior to the election, all ASB and Class Officer candidates MUST BE eligible to participate in co-curricular activities:
Student must be enrolled in a minimum of five periods.
The student received satisfactory or above marks in citizenship and work habits in all course work at the completion of the most recent grading period.
The student received satisfactory or above grade marks in all course work with no more than one ‘D’ and no ‘F’ marks at any point at the completion of the most recent grading period.
Maintains minimum progress toward meeting the high school graduation requirements as prescribed by the LAHS student handbooks.
Student maintains a satisfactory attendance record with no excessive tardies and/or absences during the previous grading period.
Student has had no history of discipline violations (no more than 10 hours of detention/Saturday School AND/OR has not been suspended at any point in high school).
Attend ASB Leadership Camp TBD
Current camp participation guidelines require all participants to be vaccinated for Covid-19. If vaccination is a contingency of attending camp in August, ASB CAMP will be voluntary and students will not be penalized for not attending.
Attend all football games, home and away, and cheer/rally/encourage students to cheer positively.
Participates in all spirit weeks, dress out days, and attends all ASB activities.
ASB is a team. We do everything together. We will, at times, have different people who are in charge of different activities at different points during the year. When you are not in charge of an event, each of you will be on certain committees supporting whoever is in charge. Below are some examples that everyone will participate in:
Help plan and organize Dances, Spirit Weeks, Assemblies, Elections, Tournaments, Competitions
Attend, set-up & cleanup of all the activities above and ensure their success
Design, draw, cut, paint props
Speak in front of large groups with confidence and purpose
Work in class daily to accomplish committee and job responsibilities
Participate in all ASB fundraisers
Attend ASB camp (TBD)
Participate professionally during class
Represent ASB with a positive and engaging attitude
The Associated Student Body President (Elected)
Be a member of the senior class during his/her term of office.
Serves as the Chief Executive Officer and the official representative of ASB
Serve as chairman and direct the activities of the ASB Senior Cabinet
Present at all meetings of the ASB Cabinet and at all general assemblies of the ASB
Appoint such committees and subcommittees of the ASB Cabinet as may be necessary for the proper conduct of the affairs of the ASB
Have the power to call special meetings of the ASB Cabinet
Be responsible for preparing an agenda with the advisor prior to each Cabinet meeting.
Speak and represent ASB at Registration, Back to School Night, Awards of Excellence, and Graduation
Served as ASB at least one year prior to election
Senior Class President (Elected)
Be a member of the senior class during his/her term of office.
Acts as a liaison between the senior class/council and the ASB
Sets up the senior activities throughout the year
Organizes the ordering of the senior t-shirt, cap and gown and announcements
Helps to organize senior sunrise/sunset, graduation, and senior awards
Sets up fundraisers for the senior class
Produce Mr. Griffin
Coordinates and orders the senior gift to the school
Organizes quarterly activities for the senior class
Organizes all class reunions
Meets with class council on a regular basis (minimum of monthly)
Junior Class President (Elected)
Be a member of the junior class during his/her term of office.
Represents the junior class to the ASB
Organizes Prom for the current year with the advisors
Organize the selection of the prom court with the Elections Commissioner
Coordinate and count votes for prom king and queen with the Elections Commissioner, if needed
Sets up fundraisers for the junior class
Organizes quarterly activities for the junior class
Meets with class council once a month
Sophomore Class President (Elected)
Be a member of the sophomore class during his/her term of office.
Acts as a liaison between the sophomore class/council and the ASB
Organizes Winter Formal for the current year with the advisors
Organize the selection of the formal court with the Elections Commissioner
Organizes quarterly activities for the sophomore class
Sets up fundraisers for the sophomore class
Meets with class council once a month
Freshman Class President (Elected)
Be a member of the freshmen class during his/her term of office.
Acts as a liaison between the freshmen class/council and the ASB
Sets up fundraisers for the freshmen class
Organizes quarterly activities for the freshman class
Meets with class council once a month
Secures a class advisor
Take photos at Formal and Prom for ASB and the school
Make balloons each Monday for staff and student recognition
Willing to complete any jobs required by ASB and/or ASB Director.
ASB Secretary/Historian/Treasurer (Appointed)
Be a member of the sophomore, junior, or senior class during his/her term of office
Handle all ASB correspondence
Keep complete records and minutes of the acts and transactions of the ASB Cabinet
Have on-file all documents pertaining to ASB government. Files should be easily accessible to all students.
Maintain the ASB/School Calendar
Maintain an inventory of all ASB supplies
Should have experience with Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
Thank you cards when needed
Create and compile ASB pictures from current and past years
Maintain attendance records for events
Serve as the liaison between the Activities clerk and ASB
Prepare all Purchase Order Requests, Disbursements, and Fundraising Requests in order to present said orders to ASB for approval.
Maintain a record of all club budgets and ensures that clubs are following them
Oversees and approves all budgets written for all ASB activities (dances, assemblies, spirit weeks, etc.)
Facilitate the approval of all fundraising requests and deliver approval/denial notices.
Recommended: Served as ASB at least one year prior to election
Activities Commissioner (Appointed)
Be a member of the freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior class during his/her term of office
Responsible for managing the activities calendar for the school year
Coordinates all lunchtime activities, spirit weeks, and school events
Every Friday should be Spirit Friday organized and executed by Activities
Responsible for submitting paperwork and facilities requests for all activities
Organize all pep assemblies and rallies with the Pep/Spirit Commissioner
Assemblies Commissioner (Appointed)
Recognize as many students as possible throughout the year at assemblies or events
Plan, coordinate, and execute:
Fall Sports/Homecoming Assembly
Winter Sports/Winter Formal
Spring Sports/Griffin Games
Academic Assembly/Prom
Create for each event:
Script approved by advisors no later than one week prior to event
Theme and poster design for each class
Timeline job assignments for all ASB members
Work with Choir to plan Homecoming Halftime show
Athletic Commissioner
Be a member of the sophomore, junior, or senior class during his term of office
Serve as the liaison between the ASB and all athletics and Athletic Director
Announce all sports in the daily announcements
Maintain the school Twitter/Instagram/SM account with regards to sports
Attend athletics events
Organize all school tournaments including Table Tennis, Volleyball, Soccer, Dodgeball, etc.
Present sports schedules at Monday meetings
Make posters for major away games
Keep an updated weekly sports calendar
Clubs Commissioner (Appointed)
Be a member of the freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior class during his/her term of office
Keep a record of all club charters and updated club list on our website
Schedule, prepare agenda, and attend all Club Council meetings
Publicize the charter of new clubs and make the paperwork available
Organize Fall Club Rush and Spring Club Rush
Set regulations for clubs and monitor them
Ensure that all fundraising requests and revenue potential forms are filled out and approved before a club has their event
Organize and Manage ASB Clubs website and social media
Communicate with club presidents and club advisors regarding the appropriate procedures including, but not limited to, fundraising and facilities requests
Maintain and updated regularly, the Clubs binder

Liaison between ASB and the Clubs on campus
Elections Commissioner (Appointed)
Be a member of the junior, or senior class during his/her term of office
Be responsible for the establishment of the elections calendar and schedules
Plan and execute all ASB elections on campus
Plan and execute all dance court elections
Plan and execute all of the teacher of the month nominations and elections
Collaborate with Dance Commissioner, Pep/Spirit Commissioner, and Activities Commissioners with relation to dance court members (and their families) for escorting purposes
Must be available after school from February through April for ASB elections
Pep/Spirit Commissioner (Appointed)
Be a member of the freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior class during his/her term of office
Must be outgoing and willing to engage all students in cheers, events, games,etc.
Be responsible for increasing spirit at all events
Create a spirit calendar with themes, giveaways, spirit ideas, and have approved by advisors before school starts
Organize all pep assemblies and rallies with the Activities Commissioner
Provide an agenda/script and release lists for assemblies
Coordinate all participants in the pep rallies (Band, song, cheer, teams, etc.)
Work to integrate teachers into the spirit of the school activities

Be a member of the freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior class
Publicize all school events, activities via posters, flyers, etc.
Approve all of the posters that are to be displayed
Help organize and conduct Homecoming Spirit Week

Responsible for all staff recognition on campus
Pick Staff/Teacher of the Week every Friday, deliver on Monday

Coordinate with Activities Office to get name and 4th period classroom
Take pictures of student and publicize on ASB SM
Create Senior of the Month poster, get name from Counseling Office
Take pic and post on ASB SM
Recognize Athletes, Artists, Academics and Locos of the Week
Each month create a new way to recognize students on campus (may work with counseling)
Coordinate birthday gifts and favors to student body
Represents ASB to the Griffin News and Yearbook
Student Representative to the Board of Education (Appointed at District Level)
Be a member of the senior class during his/her term of office
Serve as a liaison between the ASB, staff, faculty, and the district office
Attend all monthly school board meetings
Have your report completed and approved by advisors/admin the THURSDAY before your Tuesday meeting
Reads and understands all school board packet material
Communicate with district personnel
Liaison between ASB and the administration, community, school board members and students
Must attend at least one School Board Meeting and show proof
Technology Commissioners (Appointed)
Be a member of the freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior class during his/her term of office
Be responsible for coordinating music to be played at all ASB sponsored events and activities
Be responsible for setup and breakdown of all audio and visual equipment at all ASB sponsored events and activities
Be responsible for creating storyboards and writing scripts for all ASB videos
Be responsible for taping and editing of ASB videos
Submit videos for review to the ASB Advisors at least one week prior to their showing.
Work closely with the advisor and administration to determine the safest and most effective way to utilize the internet as a means to communicate with students and the community.
Coordinate the filming of video advertising
Act as the liaison between the ASB and Griffins News
Maintain and repair ASB room computers
Maintain and repair all ASB audio equipment
Maintain LAHS ASB Website
Campus Wellness/Decorating Commissioners (Appointed)
Inspect campus for illegal posters that were not approved or placed on painted surfaces.
Find the most trafficked spots on campus to put posters.
Help coordinate decorating for all ASB events.
Hang up all the posters on the poster rack.
Clean and/or organize the ASB room when not busy.
